Without any doubt, the internet and the World Wide Web offer opportunities to broaden one’s horizons, see places and things you’ve never been before, make contact with relatives and long lost friends, and so the list goes on. All this from the comfort of your own home, place of work or wherever you can sit down at a keyboard for a few minutes.
First a Health Warning! You might get “hooked”; but while there are cases where the internet has literally taken over people’s lives – especially if they are into computer games and online gambling, these cases are very much the exception not the norm. The vast majority of people find the internet a fascinating and absorbing benefit.
Above all, the internet now offers the chance for everyone to enrich their lives, explore new interests, widen their cultural experiences and understanding and do things that were unimaginable before the advent of computers.
