About
BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, has created this Savvy Citizens microsite to help people get the most from information and information technology. Every day we deal with lots of different types of information, and if you don’t know how to use it to your advantage you might miss out on services and applications that could make life easier and more enjoyable. This could mean getting access to government services, finding employment opportunities, saving money, and keeping in touch with family and friends.
As part of the Institute’s commitment to helping the public get the most out of information technology this ‘Savvy Citizens’ microsite has been launched. It is hoped the citizens will use the resources on the site to gain a greater understanding, as well as sharing their own tips and knowledge.
Over the course of a year we will be discussing eight topics that touch on every aspect of the Information Society in our lives. We will address the topics in turn and run them for six weeks each, starting with safety. The complete list of themes can be found in the sidebar. We want you to contribute your thoughts on upcoming topics.
Please get involved — comment on our blog posts, take part in our polls and our Facebook quiz, follow us on Twitter, and email us if you have any suggestions on how we can better help people get savvier with information.
